SBJBC UK Launches Saudi – UK Tech Hub at E-commerce Summit

SBJBC UK Director Chris Innes-Hopkins formally launched the website (www.saudiukhub.com) for the new Saudi – UK Tech Hub on 26th May 2022, capping off a successful Ecommerce Summit in London attended by HE Minister of Commerce Dr Majed AlQasabi and HRH Prince Khalid bin Bandar, Saudi Ambassador to the UK.

The Tech Hub is an initiative of the Saudi British Joint Business Council (SBJBC) with the support of our founding partners The Future Investment Initiative Institute (FII) and UK Science and Innovation Network.

The launch of the Saudi – UK Tech Hub reflects the strong position of the UK as a key centre in global tech, with 2021 technology investment representing one third of the European total. Saudi Arabia has also emerged as a key player in the sector, with Vision 2030 facilitating significant investments in new technologies.

The Saudi – UK Tech Hub will develop a self-sustaining ecosystem to connect, support, and promote key players in the tech ecosystems of both Kingdoms.

Speaking at the event, Chris Innes-Hopkins said: “With the support of our founding partners the Tech Hub will help to connect the UK and Saudi tech ecosystems by building on existing initiatives such as the E-commerce Event and helping to create new ones”.

“Our initial focus will be the vibrant fintech, cleantech and healthtech sectors. The Hub will make a modest but practical contribution to growing technology links between the two Kingdoms and will also give market access support and advice to UK and Saudi entrepreneurs”.

Innovation and the strengthening of relationships facilitates positive change. The new Tech Hub will be at the heart of this through targeted events and our diverse network.
