The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is gearing up to deliver Vision 2030 and invest significant sums in developing new world class destinations and cultural attractions. Ambitious developments for future living like Qiddiya ‘Entertainment City’ near Riyadh, the Red Sea Island development and Al-Ula near Madinah, are huge in scale and a positive indication of KSA’s aspirations.
The 8th International Exhibition & Conference on Higher Education will take place on 10–13 April 2019 at Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
SBJBC in partnership with the Department for International Trade organised a renewable energy trade mission to Riyadh 18-20 March.
A delegation from the Saudi National Centre for Privatisation & PPP (NCP) visited London in the week beginning 25 February to update interested companies on the progress of Saudi Arabia’s privatisation programme and discuss opportunities for cooperation and investment.
SBJBC participated in a webinar hosted by DIT, Yorkshire & Humber on ‘Doing Business in Saudi Arabia’.
The Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) led a roundtable discussion exploring the new and exciting opportunities in the education sector in Saudi Arabia.
With the recent budget announcement and the government’s commitment to education, and with 50% of the population under 25 years old, the education sector has seen large developments with demand for further foreign investment, particularly in private education.
SBJBC’s Biannual Meeting took place at the Council of Saudi Chambers following a review meeting with SAGIA on the progress of business environment reform. It was attended by UK and Saudi members as well as members of the Technology & Smart Cities Delegation. Discussion focused on issue of work visas and entrepreneur licenses.
SBJBC organised a 4-day visit to Jeddah and Riyadh from 18-21 November for 16 UK technology and smart city companies. The mission was a first by SBJBC UK and a direct follow-up to SBJBC’s SME Partnership Forum at Level39, London in April 2018.
Some 70 Saudi and UK delegates participated in SBJBC’s roundtable with a high level GACA delegation in London on 6 September.
The Saudi British Joint Business Council hosted a very well attended workshop in London on 17 July on ‘Doing Business in Saudi Arabia’ supported by British Offset.
