SBJBC signs MoU with Ministry of Communications & IT on Saudi UK Tech Hub Development

The Saudi British Joint Business Council (SBJBC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in Riyadh on 27 September 2022 to cooperate on the development of the Saudi UK Tech Hub.

 

The MOU was signed by the Saudi Deputy Minister for Technology, Eng. Ibraheem Al-Nasser and SBJBC UK’s Executive Director, Mr. Chris Innes-Hopkins. The two sides agreed to work together through the Tech Hub to enable knowledge transfer, boost investment and build relationships thereby bolstering both Kingdoms’ positions as leading hubs of technology and innovation.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Emad ElDukair, SBJBC Co-chair; Chad Woodward, Trade & Investment Director, British Embassy; Rafat Malik, SBJBC UK Board member; and Hashim al Awadi, tech investor and SBJBC member.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, Chris Innes-Hopkins said: 

“The aim of the Saudi UK Tech Hub is to connect, promote and support the tech ecosystems of both the UK and Saudi Arabia.  The collaborative network will help to promote investment, partnerships, and expertise exchange between the two Kingdoms through joint events and knowledge sharing. We are delighted to have the support of MCIT in this.”
