Saudi Arabia Drops All Remaining COVID Restrictions

Arab News

On Monday 13th June 2022, Saudi Arabia dropped all remaining restrictions and measures pertaining to COVID19.

Masks will no longer be required in enclosed spaces with the exception of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. Moreover, operators of health facilities, public events, air travel, and public transports can either opt in or out of whether they wish to enforce their own mask mandates.

Neither will proof of vaccination be required to enter establishments, events, activities, airplanes, and public transportation, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Further, citizens wishing to leave the Kingdom are now required to receive a third booster vaccine after eight moments, compared to the previous three.

As before, the new vaccination regulation does not apply to those under the Ministry of Health’s age of requirement and exempted groups.

SPA further confirmed that the Ministry of Health continues to encourage all those able to take up the offer of a third dose of the COVID vaccine.

This builds upon the recent e-visa waiver, brought in by the British Government on the 1st June to facilitate easier travel for Saudi citizens wishing to enter the UK.

Between the UK and Saudi Arabia, these developments are highly positive and offer greater opportunities for businesses wishing to engage in the two Kingdoms.
