SBJBC Member Briefing – UK-GCC FTA and Gulf Market Update

Date & location

25/06/2025

SBJBC invites members to join a 45-minute briefing on the UK-GCC Free Trade Agreement and its implications for Gulf markets, with a particular focus on Saudi Arabia.

The conclusion of the UK-GCC Free Trade Agreement negotiations during May 2026 mark one of the most consequential developments in UK-Gulf commercial relations for a generation. Businesses operating in or working with Saudi Arabia now face a changing landscape over the next several years, across tariffs, market access, and services, alongside a broader energy and trade environment that continues to shift. This webinar will provide members with a clear reading of what the agreement means in practice, how it interacts with regional market conditions, and where the early commercial indications point.

The session will open with welcome remarks from Cordelia Begbie, CEO of SBJBC. Fizza Muhammed, Head of Trade Policy and Market Access for the GCC, British Embassy Riyadh, will share perspectives on the UK government’s engagement with the Saudi market and the practical opportunities arising from the agreement. [Speaker, title], Bloomberg, will set out the trade and business indicators shaping the regional outlook. [Speaker, title], S&P Global, will provide insight into the energy and market context, before the session concludes with an opportunity for participants to ask questions.

SBJBC will reinforce the value of a measured, long-term approach to Saudi Arabia as a strategic market, while encouraging members to engage early with the opportunities the agreement presents.
